AHHH, what happened???

Well, I think I fell off the morning train.  It’s been 5 weeks since I last got up at 5am to workout with Tony and the gang.  While I have been staying fairly true to the diet, I have really fallen off with the workouts.

I’m planning to start a new round, basically beginning at day 1, but just need to get that initial motivation back up to actually begin.  UGH.  I guess if it were easy we’d all be fit and healthy.

Here’s to pumping myself back up…

Just a fun day 1 to day 73 photo comparison

I put this together just to show where I was on day 6 and where I am on day 73.

From left to right: Day 6, Day 30, Day 43, Day 73.

Playing catch-up.

Well, I messed up last week and only got one workout in during the week.  So, this puts me out an extra week to finish up the 90 day program.  For those wondering what I will do after this program – I will most likely do it again.  I’m sure I’ll mix it up a bit and add in some of my own exercises, but I’ll stick pretty close to the program once again to maximize results.

The diet is going well.  Sure, I have my moments where I eat stuff I shouldn’t, but it only happens once in a while.  I never said I was perfect and I never will.  When I began the program, I weighed right around 161-162, and the last time I checked I was right around 151-152.  I’m really hoping to find some weights to use for round 2 to help build mass and bring myself back to 160-165.

In any case, after this week I’ll have just 2 more weeks and I’ll be done with round 1.  I’m including a few more pictures just for fun.  And no, I totally missed the opportunity of taking pictures at the 60 day mark.  Oh well.

Random photo taken last night (Sunday 3/28/10)

Yeah, I know.  I’ve been flexing in these random photos and it isn’t really fair to compare these to the 0/30/60/90 pictures page.  But, if this photo (just 2 months in the program) offers anyone just a little hope and encouragement into their own life, then I’ve done my job.

Remember, while I built this site to document my journey with the P90X system, I also built it to motivate and encourage.

With the right plan and attitude, anything is possible.

Still going strong on day 43

Man oh man.  Time flies when you’re having fun.  Time also flies when you’re really busy.

And busy is exactly what I have been.  Between work and family (and my morning P90X workouts), I haven’t had time to blog about anything.

This morning marked the beginning of week 7.  Day 43.  Next week will be my second recovery week.  After that, it will be on to the last phase of the program – phase 3.

I got to thinking this morning that all of my pictures that are posted on the photos page were all taken right after I had eaten a meal – usually dinner.  Not exactly the best timing to show progress within the program.

So, I have decided to post more pictures.  Pictures that were taken right after my workout this morning – before I ate anything.  Well, I did have a banana during my workout.

Now, these were taken by me… in the bathroom mirror.  Normally my wife takes the pictures, but it was early, so I wasn’t going there.

Anyway, below are new pictures taken this morning.  Remember that these are NOT the end of phase 2 pictures.  Phase 2 pictures will come near the end of this month (March).

Day 29 – Chest, Shoulders & Triceps

Ok, so this is the first day of Phase 2 of the P90X program.  Let’s just say that after the first 3 weeks of intense workouts, you’d think I’d be used to pushing hard by now.  Yeah, this morning just about killed me.  Not literally, but my arms were absolutely worthless after this workout.  We’re talking jello-like.  Right about midway through, I found myself damn near unable to do anything.  I was that pooped – that fast.

I also completed Ab Ripper X.  I’m getting better with time, but I still can’t manage all the reps.

Oh, and I posted day 28 pictures.  Quite a difference after only 22 days!  22 days?  Yeah, I forgot to take pictures on day 1, so I took them on day 6.  Can’t wait to take more pictures after Phase 2 is over.

Day 27 – Core Synergistics

Today (and this entire past week) has been what’s called the recovery phase, or week.  Although it sounds like it’s an easy week, trust me, it isn’t.  This entire week has included yoga (2 days), core synergistics (2 days), kenpo (1 day) and stretch (1 day – 1 day optional).

Next week, Monday, begins the transition into Phase 2 of the program.  Similar type of exercises, just a different way of doing them.  The diet also changes slightly, incorporating a little less protein and upping the carbs.  This is good for me since I love carbs!  This level of the diet is known as the energy booster.

While my Sunday’s are normally either rest or stretch, I’m going to do the cardio workout since I missed a few days this past week due to this sinus infection.

Days 20-26

So, what happened?

Well, that head cold that wasn’t such a big deal, turned out to be a sinus infection that was just draining me completely near the middle of my workouts.  I have been keeping up with the workout as best I can, but have skipped a few days due to a few lousy nights.  To date, I have only skipped two days – both of which were yoga.

Time was another factor this past week and thus the reason why I haven’t kept this blog up to date.

I’m on an antibiotic now so hopefully that will knock this infection out fairly quick so I can keep up with my original schedule.

My goal is to attempt to get this morning’s workout in tomorrow, and tomorrow’s workout in on Sunday.  We’ll see how I’m feeling in the morning.

Day 19 – Legs and Back

UGH!

Being sick stinks!  My head is congested and I hate having to breathe through my mouth.  Add to the fact that my 3 year old daughter is sick and has slept with my wife and I for the past two nights.  That equates to two nights of little rest for everyone.

However, I did not let any of that get in the way of today’s workout.  I still managed to push hard, though I definitely didn’t have the energy I normally do.  I wore out pretty quickly this morning, but stuck out the whole hour and even included the ab ripper x routine.

I guess this just goes to show that if you want something bad enough, nothing will stand in your way.

Day 18 – Yoga

Bad news.  I didn’t get up for this morning’s workout.

Why?

My 3 year old daughter is sick (as am I now) and she would not sleep in her bed.  So, she slept in our bed and woke up quite often coughing and upset.  Poor little girl.  I feel so bad for her.

What I may do is get in the Yoga (or Stretch) this coming Sunday, rather than take a rest day.
